Image Capture
We are specialists in imaging technologies. Our team include PhDs and world-class experienced experts in complex imaging systems and opto-electronics engineering. Way back, two were instrumental in designing and developing the first low noise, high resolution film scanner system.
We maintain close relationships with many UK university departments and work at the cutting edge in translating new scientific developments to technical implementation. Our experience in medical imaging technologies covers the entire spectrum of imaging including CT, PET, SPECT, MEG, Nuclear Imaging, X-ray imaging. Deriving the best image is a complex balance where careful tradeoffs are required to get the best result.
Capturing the best possible image is the start.
Imaging Processing
As scientists, technologists and engineers grounded in imaging technologies we excel in driving any technology to its limit to deliver the highest possible performance.
In complex imaging systems the conversion of light to energy requires precision opto-electronic design, compact PCB layout and a leading-edge skill in developing firmware and embedded software which is resilient and efficient.
Integrated Design
Medical imaging has been a core of medical diagnostics for over 100 years. The NHS reports millions of X-ray, CT and MRI each month. New challenges in better image resolution and faster image capture leads to data storage, data anlysis, AI and security considerations.
New imaging technologies are being deployed in surgery for image-guided interventions and in nuclear medicine.
Complex interfaces linking systems must take into account data processing speeds, data transfer, data integrity, security and storage.
Cameras – CMOS, sCMOS, CCD, EMCCD, intensifiers
Detectors – ionising radiation, optical, thermal, RF
Optical design – Visible, NIR, MIR, FIR, THz
Optical metrology – single photon counting, photon statistics, physical limits of detection
Lasers – visible, NIR, diode, high-power, non-linear conversion
Imaging Systems Performance
Managing the balance and complexities inherent in signal to noise, contrast to noise, sensitivity and resolution to meet specific system requirements requires expert/scientific levels of opto-electronics, opto-mechanical and optical design expertise.
Where possible we use off-the-shelf components. We have an in-depth knowledge of the capabilities of in-market components, including cameras, lenses and image intensifiers. We also make bespoke imagers where required.
